Project Progress: Kitchen Backsplash - Part Deux
Here are some after shots of the kitchen backsplash I wrapped up last month. (See before photos in this post.)I selected a neutral stone tile (honed ivory travertine) because the granite countertops already had a lot of color and pattern variation. The backsplash needed to be the quiet element in the room. To add some interest and to tie in some of the color from the granite, I used Sonoma Tilemakers' Tantrum collection for both the liner and the dots in the color Hemp. It was the perfect bit of pizzaz the kitchen needed. The first photo is a detail during installation and before the grout was added. The second and third photos are one's my client sent me after the installation was complete. It's amazing what a difference it makes to replace the standard 4" granite backsplash with something more unique.
